Reservation

I live in USA / Canada. Is it possible to simplify the process of enrolment?

Students from Canada or USA can reserve their Spanish course by sending a check with the value of 200 US $ for booking the course and may pay for the full course and accommodation as well. Alternatively they may pay the booking fee by sending a check and once they are here on the first three days of the course they will pay for the rest fees. We can provide all the information by e-mail or by regular mail if requested.

Do I have to pay a deposit to reserve a place on my course?

A deposit of 100 Euros must be paid, no less than two weeks before the course starts to reserve a place on a course.

Courses

What is the maximum number of students per class?

In the Intensive courses we guarantee you will never study in a group of more than 8 students at Rompeolas school. The average class size at our school(varies with course and time of year) is 5 students per group. Our Super Intensive courses offer accelerated learning and maximum personal attention in groups of 4 or fewer students.

What levels of Spanish does Rompeolas offer?

We work with the four traditional levels from Instituto Cervantes together with the six levels of the European Common Reference Framework for Language (Council of Europe): Beginner (A1 + A2), Intermediate (B1 + B2), and Advanced (C1 + C2). These levels can be divided into sublevels to fit the student better.We prepare for the “DELE” exams.

How are classes scheduled?

Classes last for 50 minutes, and take place between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM for most courses, you may also choose to have afternoon classes from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. You will have class for four hours a day, with a half-hour break at 12:00. You may have classes in the morning or the afternoon, depending on the current groups available at your level, the type of course you take, the time of year, etc. We will set your schedule with you once you arrive and take your level test on the morning of your first day.Are class materials provided by the school?Yes, all study materials are provided to you at no additional cost, when staying for a month course. If you go for a course shorter than a month you may borrow the book or buy one to take with you.
Your teacher will complement the textbook with press articles, literature, advertisements, audiovisual materials, and more. Additionally, you may have a look at our Spanish blog that is becoming well-known, not only for the grammar explanations but also for the interesting information constantly updated, (soccer games Real Madrid, meals…)

Do I need medical insurance?

If you are an EU member, you need to bring a form E 111 this will entitle you to use the Spanish social security which is very good. Any health centre and hospital will treat you. Private centers will give you a bill that may be presented in your country of origin so that your private medical insurance can reimburse you in accordance with their policy.You may also hire a temporary medical insurance for your stay in Spain, at not much cost.

How much Spanish will I learn in an (immersion) Spanish course?

All our students start speaking Spanish from the very first day. Our teachers are focused on practicing the language from the very beginning, and the grammar follows easily on. It varies from person to person, and with the intensity of the course you choose, but you will see significant progress from a course of one week, even as a beginner.In general, students complete level A1 after 3 weeks of study, A2 after 6 weeks and B1 (Intermediate) after 12 weeks, (B2 (Advanced) after 17 weeks, C1 after 23 weeks and C2 (Mastery) after 42 weeks of Intensive course (20 hours per week) study.

Are there classes on public holidays?

There are no classes on public holidays. If a public holiday falls on a Sunday, Monday is declared a holiday in accordance with the work calendar. If your course begins on such a Monday, your first class will be on Tuesday.

Accommodation

Do I need towels and sheets?

All accommodation includes sheets. Towels are NOT provided.

When is my accommodation available?

From the Sunday before your course begins until 13.00 on the Saturday after it finishes.

Can I reserve extra nights?

An extra night can generally be reserved without any problem, but we recommend you give as much prior notice as possible. If more than one night is required, the exact dates must be consulted.

Are electricity and water included in the price?

The price of all types of accommodation includes both electricity and water.

Where is the accommodation located?

Families, apartments and residence are all located between 5 and 30 minutes from the school. All enjoy excellent communications with Rompeolas, both on foot and by public transport.

Do the apartments have a television and washing machine?

Yes, all apartments are equipped with a television set and washing machine.

What type of sports can I practice in Malaga?

The climate in Malaga provides perfect conditions for all types of sports. The most popular sports are beach volleyball, swimming, sailing, golf, tennis, horse riding, hiking and jogging on the sea side. Our Spanish counselor will be delighted to offer you information on where to practice you favorite sports.

By bus: Single ticket valid for the whole city 0,90 € (available at the bus), or book of ten for 5,70 € (available at Tabacco-Kiosk, 1,70 € to give in pledge for the Card)

Departures to other Cities, like Sevilla, Córdoba, Granada, Ronda.... from the Bus station (Estatión de Autobús) in the Avenue: "Paseo de los Tilos".

How to get to ROMPEOLAS SCHOOL FROM THE AIRPORT?

There is an inexpensive bus and train service from the airport to the city centre. The number 19 bus which you take outside the Arrivals Building is the most convenient means of transport, till the “Alameda Principal” where you take off and walk a few meters to get the number 11 bus to “El Palo”. The first stop in El Palo by the Police office is very near the school, two blocks to the sea and school.
There is also a good taxi service offering comfortable transfers to the city centre. The taxi stand is outside and to the right of the Arrivals Building.

Payments

Are classes not given due to public holidays compensated for?

There are no price reductions for missed classes, but we do make up a class day where two public holidays fall in the same week (e.g. Easter or the week of Malaga Fair). In such cases, in addition to classes we organise trips out with the teachers and/or other activities designed to compensate for the classes lost.

If I need a visa to study at your school, will ROMPEOLAS help me to obtain it?

ROMPEOLAS School will provide you with the letter of invitation, and certificated of studies you may need to obtain your visa once we have received your registration and full payment of your course and accommodation.

We can also help you to contact with your nearest Spanish Embassy so that they can inform you of the papers you need.
